Jim was born on April 1, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to James M. and Mary Bernadine Madigan. He fell at home on November 17th and died from complications on November 22, 2011 while a patient at Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
His family moved to California in October 1947. He grew up in Long Beach. He joined the Army in 1955 and served 2 years in Germany. He worked in the aerospace industry for over 40 years, as a precision parts inspector.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Peggy, whom he met in 1960 at a CYOF group at St. Cyprian's Church in Lakewood. The married in May 1962 and moved to Huntington Beach in October 1962. They have three children; son Darryl (daughter -in-law Brandy), daughter Elizabeth (son-in-law Daniel Schauer), son Scott (daughter-in-law Becky), three granddaughters; Amanda and Katie Schauer and Callie Madigan.
He was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, acting as Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for Pack and Troop 506.
He is also survived by his sisters; Rita Dean (Wayne) and Dolores Huyler, brothers; Robert and Thomas (Roberta). He was preceded in death by brother Raymond and sister Barbara Holesapple.
He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Dorothy Quinn and many friends and neighbors.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on December 17, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Anne's Catholic Church at 340 10th Street in Seal Beach, California 90740.
There will be a reception immediately following.
A private interment took place on December 9, 2011 at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
