Don was born and raised in Whittier, California. He was born at home and was the youngest of four children. Don had two older brothers and an older sister. Don began working in his father's moving business as a teenager. In 1961, Don and his brother Charlie took over the management of Whittier Transfer and Storage, a Mayflower agency. Don became the CEO in 1967. Under his guidance, the company grew to include offices in Santa Fe Springs and several locations in Orange County, California . Additionally, with his best friend Ken Niesner as partner; Don opened an office in Chicago, Illinois. For several decades, Don was one of the top 10 Mayflower agents in the nation and a respected industry leader in Specialized Transportation.
Married in 1962, Don and Arlette raised their children in Hacienda Heights. A devoted world traveler, Don sought out adventure while he and Arlette closely shared most of the world's wonders in their many travels. In his youth, Don built and raced cars, but it was golf that became his true passion. Be it trips for business or for pleasure, his golf clubs always came along. His annual excursion to Hilton Head, SC was always the highlight of his year.
In 1987, the last move was to Seal Beach. Don really enjoyed his evening walks around town, his breakfast group and especially his GOTE buddies. Don took great pride in the successes of his children and his beloved wife, happily supporting her many endeavors. Don had a joy of life that will always be with us. He is survived by his wife Arlette, his son David, his daughter Suzanne and his eldest brother Charlie.
