Barbara Jean Murphy

Barbara Murphy, born Barbara Jean Montgomery was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She had older siblings….Ray & Pat whom she loved very much throughout their lives together. Barbara met and married William (Spud) Murphy in Gardena, California in 1948. They had 4 children…Sandra, Sharon, Patti & lil’ brother Michael. As a family, they loved to camp and fish with other relatives and friends. Barbara was a homemaker while Spud was a longshoreman/Foreman. They had a very comfortable life together.

Spud died at 70 from brain cancer which was a shock to Barbara as well as the kids, their kids, all the relatives and many friends. Barb moved on to live in many places after Pop’s passing and finally settled in Henderson, NV. She found a good Christian church, new friends and fun casinos!! She filled her life with all those and more for many years. Her kids & family made multiple travels to visit her in Las Vegas.

After it was becoming more obvious that she needed additional care, the family agreed to move her to Colorado. She received a lot more visits and got to spend the holidays & special dinners which she just loved to do. She took several falls but was able to bounce back, this last one on 10/23 were she broke four ribs was too much for her aging body. She went straight to an incredible hospice facility where she received the best of care for 8 days until she passed on 10/31/2023 quietly at 11:25pm.

Barbara lived a very long and extremely blessed life with so many beautiful grandchildren and even more great grandchildren ❤️. She would want you all to remember her with a smile and not sorrow. She knew that she was going live Eternal Life with her Lord and Savior and see those loved ones that have gone before her ❤️. Rest in Sweet Peace Mom 🙏

A funeral service for Barbara will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary, 14801 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA 92683. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA 92683.
