Ned L. Dautriel of Westlake passed away Friday, September 22, 2023, in his residence. He was born in Lake Charles on February 29, 1948. He was a graduate of the USMC; after graduation, he served as a crew chief of the Purple Foxes HMM-364 in Vietnam. He did his best to never miss military reunions. Ned was a long-time member of St. John Bosco church, past Commander of the Lake Charles Power Squadron, and past President of the SW Fishing Club. He was a Master Plumber and former co-owner of Dautriel Plumbing. He later retired from the maintenance department of the Calcasieu Parish School Board. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and scuba diving. When he wasn’t on the water, he loved helping others with projects. Ned loved old movies, old TV shows, and classical music. He was always up for a game of cards. Ned loved his grandchildren and always bragged on them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sheryl Dautriel; daughter Sasha Easley, husband Mike and girls Michael and Alex; son Travis Laughlin and boys Brody and Trevor; siblings Earline Ann Hennigan, L.J. Dautriel Jr. and wife Rita, and John Dautriel and wife Pam, and sister-in-law Kristin Dautriel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Joseph Dautriel Sr. and Ironie Marie Dautriel, sister Jeanette Jessen, and brothers Michael and Leon Dautriel.
Visitation for Ned will be Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 4-7 pm, with a sharing of memories at 5:30 pm and rosary at 6 pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Westlake, La. Memorial Mass will be Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11am at St. John Bosco Church in Westlake, LA. Inurnment will be announced at a later date.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to his doctors and nurses for the love and care they gave to Ned. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America at secure.pva.org.
