Michael David Wayne Welch, 41, of Westlake, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clifford Kenneth Welch. Michael was born on November 16, 1982.
Michael grew up in Westlake, where he attended Westlake High School and graduated in 2001. He was a proud Ram and showed it on the field. In 1999 he was All-District Linebacker and in 2000 he was All-District linebacker, All-Southwest Linebacker, and All-State Linebacker. After high school he went on to begin his career in the refineries as a top notch Journeyman Pipefitter and was an outstanding craftsman. Michael was known for being one of kind, full of charisma, his undeniable and infectious charm, along with his endless pranks, and his witty sense of humor. If Mike Welch never made you gut-laugh, you never met him. He truly was the life of the party, and you won't find a single person who says differently. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clifford Kenneth Welch.
Those left to cherish his memory are his father, Darren Welch; mother, Susan Bryeans; daughters, Bryleigh Gray (fiancé, Daxton) and Jolie Welch and her mother Jamie Gosnell; sister, Caitlin Spears; brothers, Zachary Scheufens, Matthew Scheufens, and Jaxson Bryeans; paternal grandmother, Margie Welch; maternal grandparents, Tommy and Donna Bryeans; his Uncle Kenny and Monica; cousins, Jessica Welch and Rusty Welch, who he loved like a brother; and many other aunts uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
Family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service beginning at 6:oo p.m. in the Chapel at Hixson Funeral Home, Westlake, on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Rev. Rocky East will officiate. Michael will be laid to rest at a later date.
