Remembering Victoria today and the warm memories of the times I was fortunate to spend with her. Her kindness, energy and infectious smile shone brightly in my brief interactions. It was always a joy to be in her presence. Holding you, Angie, and your family in my thoughts on this day. OH MG!!!! i am at a LOSS for words of this notice/announcement of Torie's passing!!! MY CONDOLENCES to Mr. D,  Angie & family, for the passing of Torie, & for the loss of my dear ol' friend Torie,  Mr. D's  daughter, & Angie beloved sister!!! That said, i want to say that I was Torie's University friend-sister, in our 20's & I miss Torie's friendship & SPIRIT!!! I missed her stories,  of her love for Matt, her friends Nigel, Caroline, who have gone too soon! Her stories of Tsukuba, & of her concierge time at La Meridien on Burrard & that character Armand at La Meridien, & her angst of life, & her BELOVED Shaughnessy dowager MARMIE, & her Impish "Uncle John"!!! I AM ASHAMED that we lost touch & I havent kept up (because of my family's & life''s demands!!) Her passing, and that my own illness prevented me from RECONNECTING, but reminded that life is short, precious, &  that we need to hold onto & love who we love, &  that we all have a special friend &  an "old university friend Torie!!" that we will forever hold in our hearts!!!!  I miss Porpoise Bay, the crazy fun times with Angie, & cousin Shen (Richenda!!) & us the Scchelt gang, AND her Mom's enduring love!!! Angie, if this message finds you...hugs ❣ ❣ ♥!!!!

I would like to send my deep sympathy to her family feeling the loss of lovely Victoria. Victoria was cheerful, always generous with her words and deeds. 
I  appreciated knowing her from many decades ago in Tsukuba Japan, and enjoyed catchimg up at a few of the reunions over the years! 
May she have a safe and loving journey tobher next destination, perhaps filled with flowers to arrange!

Victoria's beautiful cat Toshi came into my animal hospital to be treated when he was sick a few months ago. 
Every time Victoria would come for a visit, she was so lovely. She made everyone smile with her bright, positive personality, even in the face of her cat's illness.  I am deeply saddened to learn of her death and I know she will be missed. 


Honored Victoria today with a DimSum meal with all her favorites! This was our favorite catch up time when we could arrange it. Thankfully we had one of these recently with her.

Incredibly sad to have lost Victoria. She was a great colleague and a truly extraordinary person. Her energy and attitude is what made her so unique and unforgettable. She was also so kind and generous with her time and never turned anyone down, if they needed help. 

I had the pleasure of working with Victoria at Qtrade. She was such a positive force. I fondly remember our entertaining water cooler chats. She truly cared about the people around her and was tremendously supportive of me when I lost my mom. So sorry to hear she is no longer with us. 

Torie was my sorority sister in AOII at UBC. I fondly remember her constant positivity, her deep compassion, and her obvious competence. I always felt she was destined for greatness and it is clear through the accounts of the people whose lives she touched, that she truly made this happen. 
My deepest condolences to her family and those closest to her; it was such a shock to learn of her passing. I know she will be dearly missed but her shining star through the effect she had on others will be her  legacy. 

I knew Victoria through her work with Vignettes Learning as part of our mentor group.  She was, as Earth Wind and Fire put it, a "Shining Star".  She was a shining example of what true passion for what you do looks like.  Her passion and exuberance for life and learning was something she shared with others and I will never forget her as a result.  I will miss her enthusiasm for life and what we do in Learning and Development and will strive to live my life the way she did; with a passion for always learning the next great thing and making the most of every second of every day.

My sincerest condolences to Victoria’s family. I was so sorry to hear of our dear friends passing. She was always filled with so much love, light and positivity. I never left a conversation with her without feeling her warmth. During our last conversation she expressed how truly happy she was in life right now and I hope that gives her loved ones some comfort. 💜 She will be truly missed.

I’ll remember Tori for her great kindness and patience with me when I began my career as a Concierge a few years after we had worked together at Expo 85 in Japan.  She had started out at L’Meridien a few years earlier. She really took me under her wing and gave me a lot of advice and connections. I remember popping in to see her one day and she introduced me to the band Aerosmith! They all clearly adored her as they had been staying with her for some time and had a chance to get to know her. She was all class. Rest in peace Tori.

Victoria was a luminary figure amongst a vibrant, hard working and fun loving group of 45 young Canadians who staffed the Canada Pavilion at EXPO '85 in Tsukuba Japan. Her delightful demeanor always reminded us, on our toughest days, that we should be grateful for the opportunity in front of us.  I'll always be thankful to have known her and was always so happy when we bumped into eachother in Vancouver over the years .

Shocking and such sad news. I had the pleasure of working with Victoria at Qtrade and Aviso, she was the ray of sunshine . . . she had such positive energy. She was such a lovely, kind, and genuine person. She will truly be missed. Sincere condolences to her family during this difficult time.

Tsukuba Expo 85 was ages ago and yet the image I have of Tori -- bright smile, always upbeat, the epitome of positivity -- is as clear today as it ever was. She will certainly be missed and forever in our hearts. 

Tori will be sadly missed.  The last time I saw her was in 2015, at one of our Expo '85 reunion parties.  She was the same gal with the very big heart and infectious smile that drew me to her so many years ago in Tsukuba, Japan.  In the BC Theatre at Expo '85, she wore an "astronaut" outfit. Now when I look up into the night sky, I will think of Tori among the stars.


Such sad news.  Victoria had such a great spirit.  Always so positive and smiling ear to ear.  My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Very saddened to hear of Victoria's passing. I worked with Victoria at Aviso & she was always such a vibrant & friendly member of the team. She was really welcoming when I joined & always up for a chat.  Victoria would arrange the birthday cards for everyone to sign & remembered special events. At Christmas she sent our team online activity advent calendars which was a really nice way to keep us connected through Covid. Sending love & support to Victoria's family & friends.

There were a number of U.K. visits. We got to know her best when she visited us at home, we went for a great Indian meal & spent hours talking.
Also met her in Vancouver on several occasions.
Victoria will always be in our thoughts.  


Victoria was the most genuinely warm, kind and inclusive person.  I was honored to have worked with her.  She was a bright light and I really hope that she knew how many people were impacted by her kindness.  I for one will try to be a little more like Victoria every day. I met Victoria Darnbrough, "Tory”, in Sechelt close to 20 years ago.   Tory, her sister Angelia, her Mom Faith and Dad Peter, were our summer time neighbors down the shoreline in Porpoise Bay. Our families quickly became close friends and spent many times together either at their cottage or in our home/Bed and Breakfast having wonderful dinners and evenings together. Some of the fondest memories of my life are with Tory and her family.
Tory was the most positive, happy, and outgoing gem of a human being. I remember feeling uplifted and buoyed every time we met. She was especially supportive and kind when I was going through a difficult time, my separation and divorce, and launching myself back into the workforce after being self employed for many years. She was was kind, positive and my biggest cheerleader. I don't think I ever saw her in a bad mood (no doubt she had them but she would never let you see it). And she was her mother's daughter through and through. Kind, caring, loving and one of those special people who always made your day brighter. 
Tory has left us unexpectedly and much too soon. She has left a hole in my heart and I am having a hard time accepting she has left us. I think that she is now in the arms of Faith, and they are both smiling down on us and want us to carry on. It was an absolute privilege to know your Victoria Darnbrough. So shocked to hear of this.  Victoria's smile radiated warmth to everyone.  She had a very kind heart & genuinely cared for people.  She was bubbly & easy to talk to.  Such a cheerful soul.  My sincere condolences to her family in this difficult time...


Victoria always knew how to put a smile on my face. Whether it was her famous line of "oh honey" or her infectious laugh, I knew I could count on V to make my day brighter. As many of you have said, she was the ultimate cheerleader. She was a wonderful work colleague and a very special person.  She will be missed dearly.  

On a sunny summer afternoon about 6ish years ago I was putting the finishing touches on the lower deck of our property on the Sechelt Inlet. I heard a sweet 'hello' coming from the water and looked up to see Victoria and Angelia (didn't know their names at that point) kayaking toward me to see what I was up to. Friendly? Snoopy? Or did they just like men in tool belts?

They commented on my carpentry skills so how could I not invite them back later for a drink later to help my wife Bev and I christen the new deck. They were all too happy to oblige and this began our treasured friendship and working relationship. 

There is always a place for Victoria on our deck and I am sure that her sweet voice will be heard down there by those who are listening.

I can never forget Victoria as a collogue who made my starting days so comforting. She would always smile and pass on the compliments.
I remember the diffuser she would keep on her desk and every time we pass from her desk it would be full of positivity .

I met Victoria through work and truly admired her immediate friendliness and love of food. She was always there to support and encourage me to try new things and made sure we always celebrated our achievements together.

Victoria was a terrific friend and peer with boundless energy, excitement and enthusiasm for everyone she met and every project she worked on. I haven't seen Torie (her childhood name) for a very long time, but my memories of all the fun we had as kids in HK are perfectly fresh in my mind. Our Mums were the very best of friends, so we naturally shared a lot of fun, laughter and very mad fancy dress times together! (Let's hope she's up there now with Faith and Joyce, creating love and fun as she did throughout her life). We stayed in contact via email and when Mum died she was on the phone to the UK straight away, giving her love, kindness and support, even though we hadn't seen eachother for years. She really did have a HUGE heart and that legacy will live on despite not being here with us all now. Not a bad way to be remembered....  With love from Kimbo xxx

Victoria was such a positive and passionate force in eLearning.  She served on the eLBC Board in the early 2000's, which I chaired.  I so well remember her "Hi ho! Hi ho!" on arrival at our meetings.  So shocked to learn of her death.  Rest in Peace, dear Victoria

Victoria had such a great sense of style and presence - from her always coiffed hair to her endless variety of gorgeous scarves and fabulous jewel-toned outfits! 
I remember Victoria in high school as a natural leader that all the girls looked up to and admired. Although I didn’t see much of Victoria in recent years, she always had the warmest smile and big hearted greeting, and made you feel special just by being around her.
She has been such a proud Aunt to Peter, who has grown into such a fine young man. Her love for Peter will be like a wind in his sails as he heads out into the world. 
Victoria’s life was a gift to many.

We’ve lost our Little Miss Sunshine. Victoria was always supportive and championing her friends and family. Present her with a problem and she was determined to fix it somehow. Torie was my big sister when I was first initiated into the sorrority.  She was so supportive and watched out for me as I completed my Bachelor of Education at UBC.  Years after graduation, she and I would accidentally "bump" into one another through workshops and other professional activities we attended.  She had such a bubbly personality and she always saw the bright side of things.  I am saddened to hear of her passing.  My condolences go out to the family.  She was a special angel to me.

Victoria was a bundle of joy and laughter from the first moment we met! We clicked like long lost friends and would have everyone around us in tears as they were laughing so uncontrollably at our tomfoolery!
