It is with sadness and yet a sense of peace that we announce the passing of our cherished Dad, Stan Whittle. He was 92. Dad was “Poppa” to 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren all of whom he was immensely proud of and loved to host at countless parties over the years. He joins our graceful Mom, Florence Whittle, predeceased by 12 years, looking over all of us with loving care. He is also predeceased by his brother Roy.
Dad was born in 1920 in Victoria BC and was an award winning gardener and an accomplished business executive. His career started at the Neon Products Sign Company, a company he would later become President of and an organization that would form the roots of what is now known as the Jim Pattison Group. He was active for years in Rotary International and many of Rotary’s outreach programs. Dad spent the last few years at the Amica Retirement Home in West Vancouver who we thank dearly for their tender care.
Dad was a “gentleman” who lived the philosophy to be strong, yet gentle. He had strong convictions but embraced all walks of life. And he exemplified the notion of "unconditional love" and that "forgiveness is a liberating strength, not a weakness". We will miss you Dad: Nancy, Terry, Barb and Rob.
A simple service celebrating this “special man” will be held this Saturday May 11th, 3 pm at St. David’s United Church located at Taylor Way and the Upper Levels highway (1525 Taylor Way) in West Vancouver.
