May 9, 1925 - June 8, 2018
It is with sadness and regret I announce the
passing of my mother and best friend. She leaves
to mourn her loving daughter Donna, sister June
and many nieces and nephews. Hazel was
predeceased by her loving husband Donald, her
parents Thomas and Clara Hewitt, infant twins
Pauline and Raymond, brothers Tom and Clare,
and sister Doreen. She was born in Golden B.C.
and moved with her family to Vancouver Island.
While attending a softball game she met her future
husband Donald and they were a devoted couple
for 50 years. Hazel felt she hit a home-run! They
loved to travel to Hawaii and took numerous road
trips to the USA to visit relatives. Hazel worked for
Kodak Canada for 20 years and retired when the
company closed in 1993. She loved her job and
stayed in touch with many friends and co-workers
even in her retirement. She spent long hours in her
garden. Her home of 64 years was her pride and
joy. Hazel loved to entertain, especially the Canada
Day Parade and BBQ. This occasion was legendary
among all the family especially the children.
Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of Two
South, Evergreen House and her companions Mila
and Joan for their loving care and support. In
Hazel’s honour, please forward any donations to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer
Society. No funeral by request. A Celebration of
Life will be held at a future date.
“All that I am, all that I ever hope to be,
is because of you Mom!” Love Donna.
