June 5, 1913 – June 27, 2016
It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of Edna Morse. Edna passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side. Edna was born in Vancouver and lived a very full 103 years. She married George Morse and they moved to West Vancouver in 1938, where they raised their family.
Edna worked with George in his office in Vancouver as secretary and accountant. Both were very active in the West Vancouver community. Edna was one of the founding Moms, in 1948, of the Inglewood Parent Participation Preschool, which is still operating today. Edna was an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for over 50 years and a past president of the Provincial Chapter. Edna served for many years on the Kiwassa board helping impoverished families in Vancouver’s east end. Edna was also very involved with the West Van Seniors Centre particularly the Special Services Group and was recognized for her many contributions with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. Edna had a passion for Contract/Duplicate Bridge for over 60 years and was considered a formidable opponent.
Edna was predeceased by her husband George in 1982. She will be missed by: her daughters Joanna and Elizabeth, her son Alan (Alison); her grandchildren: Michael (Lavina), Sherrill (Bill), Sandra (Mirko), Lisa (Shane), Jonathan and William; her great grandchildren: Josh, Cynthia, Christina, Al, Mathew, Stephanie, Owen, Sara, Gabriel, Alyssa, Emma and Taylor.
Thank you to Dr. Paul Sugar, all the care givers and the team at Vancouver Coastal Health.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday July 8th at 2pm at West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt Ave.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the SPCA.
