With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Chrysoula (Chrys) Gonidakis, who brought joy and warmth to all who knew her, Chrys passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2024. She was known for her sincerity, generosity, and humility, with her unwavering faith guiding her throughout life.
Chrys will be forever cherished and missed by her devoted husband and best friend, Nabil Tarazi, and their children, Maya and Jason. Chrys is also survived by her loving mother, Vassiliki, her brother, Antonios Gonidakis, along with many nieces, nephews, and her extended family.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, on October 29, 1967, Chrysoula moved to Rhodes, Greece at a young age, where she spent her formative years. At eighteen, she returned to Montreal to pursue her studies in physiotherapy at McGill University, where she would later meet Nabil. Chrysoula dedicated over 30 years of her professional life to serving the North Shore community as a highly respected physiotherapist.
Deeply committed to her Greek heritage, Chrysoula faithfully served the Greek Church and her community. Her passion for children's education and the preservation of Greek language and culture was recognized and admired, particularly through her dedicated involvement with the Greek school.
Chrysoula’s strength and resilience were remarkable, especially during her courageous battle with cancer. She faced her illness with grace and dignity, inspiring all who knew her with her determination and spirit.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the numerous medical professionals who provided exceptional care throughout Chrysoula’s illness. They are also profoundly grateful to their extended family and friends for their unwavering support during this time. A special thanks to Father Timoleon Prattas for his spiritual guidance.
Prayers will be offered on Monday September 23, 2024 at 7:00 pm, followed by a funeral service to be held at Saints Nicholas and Dimitrios Greek Orthodox Church, at 4541 Boundary Road, on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive condolences at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Chrysoula Gonidakis to the Greek Orthodox Community of East Vancouver, with a special request for contributions to the Greek School, phone – 604-438-6432.
Chrysoula’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched and inspired.
