Byron Briton, age 78, passed away peacefully at Lion’s Gate Hospital on July 18, 2012. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years Josie Briton, (children) Judy Briton, Barney Britton (Laureen) and Lisa Briton Hodges (Steve), (grandchildren) Carmen and Nadine Britton, (brother) David Britton, (predeceased by brother Robert), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Byron was raised in West Vancouver and attended Pauline Johnson Elementary and West Van High. He remained an active member of various associations such as the West Vancouver Historical Society, the Vintage Car Club and,
Antique Chapter of B.C., BCTA, B.C. Fleets and the Driving School Association of the Americas.
Byron purchased North Shore Driving School in 1968. He worked and spent his life doing what he loved best, teaching and working with cars. His wealth of knowledge helped work towards the betterment of the driving school industry. In his spare time, he could often be found at home working on his vintage and antique cars, and spending time with his family.
Byron is lovingly remembered for his gentle way, his passion to do things right and drive for perfection, love of nature, and his excellent sense of humour. He was a strong man with a kind heart who made a lasting impression on anybody he met, he will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Clement’s Church on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., at 3400 Institute Road, North Vancouver, BC. There will be an open microphone at the service for those who may wish to speak. www.stclementschurch.ca
