Nine years after being diagnosed with Lewy Body Parkinson’s Dementia and Alzheimer’s. Anne passed pain free peacefully at 12:00 midnight December 27, 2014. Her slow passing was eased by a morphine drip initiated 3 years ago. She died as she lived; gracefully and with great dignity.
She will be greatly missed and honored by her son, Paul George Duchart; husband, George B. Cross; his children, Patti M. Cross-Bishop (Mark), Susan F. Foster, (Don) George C.; plus, her 6 step-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her 2 brothers, Derek Vern (Candy) Stott (North Bay, Ontario), and Tim (Milinda) Stott (Markham, Ontario), and their children.
Special thanks to her devoted caregivers, Barbara Persson, Brigida Ng, and Clairida Walsh, who helped to attend to her at home for several years until Anne got to be too much and was moved to Evergreen House, Lions Gate Hospital, where the wonderful staff eased her through her long wait and death.
She was born June 8, 1940, in Calgary, Alberta, to Vern and Francis (Smallpiece) Stott where she lived for 5 years, when her family move to Vancouver for 10 years. At 15-years-old, she attended Havergal School, Toronto, then Wellsley Hospital School of Nursing and University of Toronto, for Bachelor of Nursing.
On September 25, 1965, Anne married George Jeremiah Duchart, a lawyer, in Toronto, Ontario, and gave birth to Paul on August 29, 1969.
July 8, 1980, she married George Cross, moved to West Vancouver, BC, where they lived for 34 years until she died. They had an active life together with much travel, opera, symphony, lots of ballet, plays, great skiing with her in front (it took her a while to master the sport but when she did, she skied in front most of the time).
A family memorial service will be held at Hollyburn Funeral, 1805 Marine Dr., West Vancouver, on January 8 at 1:00 p.m. A proper wake is to be planned for early spring when her much-loved rose garden is returning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
