Nedra was born in Mt. Pleasant, Utah on May 17, 1955 to Oran and June Stewart as the only daughter in a house with four sons. She truly embraced the “flower power” peace-loving era in which she grew up for her entire life. She strived to be kind, generous, and open minded.
A 1973 graduate of Kearns High School, she was active in pep squad and the FHA club.
Following graduation, Nedra traveled and lived in California for a time working for Bel Viso where she had fun naming different colors of cosmetics.
In 1986, she married Henri de Baritault and, though they went their separate ways, together, they had their only child, Marc-Henri de Baritault. Nedra was a devoted mother to Marc. She loved her son dearly and made his interests her own.
Nedra had many different interesting jobs, but most of her career was spent at Discover Financial Services, where she was a beloved coworker and met many lifelong friends. She went back to school in her mid-fifties while working at Discover full time and graduated with her bachelor’s degree after 4 years. She got straight A’s except for math. She hated math. She received numerous professional accolades at Discover including two President’s Plates and two Pinnacle of Excellence awards. She loved and was loved by her Discover family. She retired in 2022, after having worked there for 20 plus years.
Throughout her life, she looked for opportunities to help others and spread positivity in her communities. She particularly loved the time spent serving special needs people. In her later years, she enjoyed her time in the Red Hat Society with her mother.
She had a very special relationship her mom. When her mom started having a hard time taking care of herself, Nedra moved in with her to make sure she was well taken care of and comfortable.
Nedra became a grandmother (Bobba) in 2020 and her grandson, and later granddaughter were the lights of her life. Nothing made her happier than playing with her grandkids and making them laugh or smile. She loved giving them hugs and watching them learn new things.
Nedra is survived by her son, Marc-Henri de Baritault; daughter-in-law, Melanie; grandchildren Erik and Nola-June; brothers Richard (Dixie) Stewart, Jerry (Kristine) Stewart, Terry (Dian) Stewart, and Dan (AnnaLisa) Stewart. She was warmly received in the next life by her mother and father and grandparents.
Nedra’s memorial service will take place Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11:00 am at Valley View Mortuary, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah 84120.
