KENNETH L. ISAKSON, Sr.
Known as “Ike” to his friends
November 6, 1936-November 25, 2024- Kenneth Lawrence Isakson, Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, after a long battle with Dementia. Ken was born to Victor Ross Isakson and Myrtle Lorraine Petersen on November 6, 1936, in the small town of Oakley, Utah. He had many friends there and loved playing pranks on them as they walked to school each day. According to Ken, they walked to school uphill in the snow both ways!
In 1953, when Ken was just seventeen years of age, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country as a marine during the Korean conflict. Ken was a proud veteran and shared his stories with his family and anyone else who would listen.
Upon his return from his duties in the U.S. Marine Corps, Ken married the love of his life, Maria (Visser) Isakson on May 5, 1961. Together, they raised five beautiful children, Teresa Ibarra, Rebecca Ibarra (Tracy Garner), Kenneth Isakson Jr. (Cindy), Michael Isakson (Gina), and Gary Isakson. Ken and Maria have been married for 63 years.
Over the course of his years, Ken became the owner and operator of many small businesses, including Ken’s Towing Service and Family Pride Wigwam. Most recently, he was the co-founder of Po Boyz Flooring. He was also happy driving as a long-haul truck driver for several different companies. He was a dedicated worker and particularly enjoyed his time on the road as a truck driver. Later in life, Ken worked as a Pinkerton Security Officer at Litton Industries and Northrop Grumman where he finally retired.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Maria, his five children listed above, his sister, Betty Young (Max), his brother, Gerald Isakson, fourteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren, cousins, and many nieces and nephews. Ken also leaves behind his faithful and loyal 4-legged companion, Thor.
Preceded in death by his parents, his sister, LaVon Tamplin and his brother, Blaine Isakson, and three beautiful granddaughters – baby Karalee, Kehndra, and Patricia.
Services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 12:00 noon at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park- Chapel, located at 17111 South Camp Williams Road – Bluffdale, Utah, where friends may visit with the family from 11am to 12 noon prior to the service.
