Charles was born in Heber City, Utah to Albert & Melba Price on February 1st, 1942. He was the third born of 6 children. He graduated from Wasatch High School and attended Utah State University on a 4H scholarship. He married Barbara Smith (later divorced) and had three children. He married Betty Jane Salazar on May 30th, 1968, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Charles and Betty built their little rambler into a home in West Valley City where they raised their “Brady Bunch” blended family of 6 kids. It’s a daunting task to provide for a large family so Charles worked many long hours to keep everyone clothed, fed, and healthy. Charles was an adjunct professor at Salt Lake Community College. He taught Auto-mechanics in the evening while also working as a Master Technician at Henry Day Ford during the day. Charles worked at Henry’s for 43 years until he retired.
He always had a love of cars and motorcycles. After the kids were grown, Charles & Betty joined the Salt Lake Motorcycle Club with their dear friends Leroy & Joyce Trimble. He thoroughly enjoyed going on charity benefit rides and exploring the open road on his Honda Gold Wing.
Charles loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. Some of his happiest moments were spent in the mountains with his friends and family. Charles also loved sports! He was an avid football and basketball fan and that carried over into being an engaged grandpa who enjoyed supporting his grandkids at their little league games.
Charles lived his life as an example of how to be a good father and a good man. He was a devoted family man who made sure that his loved ones knew how deeply he cared about them. He was a man with very broad shoulders, unbelievably strong hands and a gentleness of spirit that you could see reflected in his eyes. He always had a guiding hand and a joke to lift someone up when they were feeling low. The really good jokes would send him into an adorable closed-eye and shoulder bouncing laugh.
We’ll miss so many things about Charles, but we are comforted in the knowledge that he is now surrounded by loved ones who have been waiting to welcome him home.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Jane, his parents Albert & Melba Price, his brothers Marvin, Mervin, and Glen Price, as well as his best friend Leroy Trimble.
