He was born on June 17, 1979 to Dorie Chatwin. As a single mother, Dorie worked hard to make sure that Brandon never went without. They had a wonderful support system consisting of grandparents, great grandparents, and other extended family members who assumed important and significant roles in Brandon's life. He learned many life lessons from them that he carried into adulthood and shared with his family. In 1990, Dorie married Boyd Olson who took on the role as Brandon's father. Brandon spent much of his youth working alongside his grandfather at the family farm in Magna, also at his grandparents' or great grandparents' home. He had a natural curiosity about how things worked and would confirm his theories by taking everything apart. Brandon had an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. From raising animals to sell as a youth to selling watches at the State Fair, then starting a lawn mowing business as he got older. Brandon prided himself on his strong work ethic and what he could accomplish through hard work.
On October 4, 2004, Brandon married Penny Moen, the love of his life. He was never shy about letting people know how much he adored Penny. They shared many dreams and goals over the years, working together and supporting each other in achieving many of those dreams. After Penny finished graduate school, Brandon turned his passion for riding four-wheelers at the sand dunes into his ultimate business venture. In 2014, they took a leap of faith and Brandon quit his full-time job to focus solely on his "ATV junkyard." He worked tirelessly to make TDC Quads into the thriving business it is today. Brandon is well known in the community as a walking encyclopedia of ATV knowledge.
Brandon and Penny have two children together, Amelia (8) and Theron (6). He enjoyed watching them grow older so he could share his passions and interests with them including his love of ATVs, classic cars, hunting, and sports (especially the Buffalo Bills). Brandon was a great friend to those he trusted and had an infectious laugh. He will be so dearly missed.
Brandon is survived by his wife, Penny; children, Amelia and Theron; parents, Boyd and Dorie Olson; grandmother, Joan Chatwin; extended family Brian and Sue Moen, Zach, Krista, Paxton, and Cora Smith, Jeremy Moen, and many others. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Theron Chatwin, James Olson, and Mildred Olson; great grandparents, Gordon and Marie Johnston, and Heber and Clara Chatwin; and uncle, Duane Chatwin.
A Celebration of Life is planned for on June 10 with details to follow.
