1928-2012

Magna, UT. Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister & Friend to more than one can count, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2012 while in the compassionate care of her daughter and family.

She was born July 16, 1928 to James and Ada Salina Duke. Ada Duke died when Jeane was 6, she and her sister Lola was welcomed into the loving home of Margaret Smith whom Jimmy Duke married. She spent her youth with brother Doug, sisters Lola, Margaret and Janice.

Jeane attended Webster Elementary, Brockbank Jr. and Cyprus High where she was active in student life and held the position of Student Body Secretary her Sr. year.

She was attending U.S.U. when she accepted the proposal of marriage from Jay Humphreys. They were married June 25, 1948 and spent 42 years together, making a wonderful home in Magna raising their 3 children. Jay passed away in 1990.

Jeane was active in church, holding many positions as a member of Westvale Presbyterian. She was a member of Eastern Star, Ladies of the Shrine and P.E.O. Holding positions in all. She loved her lifelong friends from Club, their homes filled with laughter every time they met and meals at “the” JB’s with anyone who was interested. She retired from the Federal Government in 1991.

Survived by children, Marsha Miller, William (Nancy) Humphreys, James (Susan) Humphreys; grandchildren, Cody, Shea, Nick, Julie, Autumn, Ian, Malcolm, Cheyenne; great grandson, River; sister, Janice Fisher; brother, Douglas Smith.

Preceded in death by her husband Jay, parents, sisters; Lola Duke, Margaret McQuaid .

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 12 noon at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 S. W.V.C. A viewing will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, October 8th, and 11:00-12:00 October 9th prior to the Funeral service. Graveside will follow immediately after the service. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park.
