Velma B. Jackson was born on February 9, 1942 to the late Martin F. Britt and Ida Mae Britt in Azuka/Bryant, FL. She was one of nine siblings. She was raised in a Christian home and continued a Christian walk with God throughout her life.
She was educated in the Palm Beach County School system. She then relocated to Riviera Beach in the middle 1960s and for more than 40 years worked in nursing. Velma worked as a CNA at the Convalescent Center of the Palm Beaches, and then transferred to the Palm Beach County Nursing facility where she retired.
Velma was predeceased by 2 brothers, Martin Britt Jr. and Walter Britt, 4 sisters, Carrie Bell Britt, Lillian (Peggy) Bens, Marie (Pat) Bouie and Cherrie Lee Walker, and her precious goddaughter Azeri Lewis.
Velma met the love of her life, Richard and married him on her birthday, February 9, 1974. They celebrated 48 years of love and happiness.
She leaves to cherish her memories with her loving husband Richard, her two surviving sisters Betty Ellington and Ernestine Weston, goddaughter Cassandra Sheely, godson Keantaye (Atlanta, GA), mother in law Delores Roundtree, special nephew Anthony (Tony) Bouie (Orlando) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and sorrowing friends.
