He joined the Palm Beach Police Department in 1991 as an officer and was promoted to police detective in 1994.
A dedicated professional, Joe was well known for his extensive knowledge and experience in interviews and interrogation and was a tenacious investigator. During his career, he worked in the police department's Organized Crime Vice and Narcotics Unit, the Department of Justice and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, and the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Public Integrity Unit. He handled high profile cases and instructed law enforcement personnel and civilian members of the community about criminal and narcotics investigations. He was responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the security camera systems throughout the Town of Palm Beach.
Joe had many fond memories of his years with the police department, including meeting his wife, Jennifer. In 2013, Joe retired as a law enforcement officer as one of the most decorated Detectives in the history of the Palm Beach Police Department, and accepted a position to work in the private sector.
