Ernie passed away October 8, 2022 at the age of 81, from a long battle with Parkinson's.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Nancy Peeples Carr, son Ernest (Ernie) Carr of Palm Beach Gardens, daughter Diane Carr Jones of Atlanta, daughter Corrin Carr of West Palm Beach, son Ian Carr of Boynton, mother-law- Norma (Sissie) Peeples of West Palm Beach, brothers- in- law Lloyd Peeples of New Mexico and Michael Peeples of West Palm Beach.
Ernie started his adult life working at Winn Dixie Grocery stores in the early 1960's and became the youngest assistant manager in the company. From there he went into law enforcement which ended up being his passion; serving 29 years with the City of West Palm Beach,where he achieved the rank of Major and 18 1/2 years with the City of Palm Beach Gardens, where he achieved the rank of Colonel, fully retiring in 2015. In tandem with the Palm Beach Gardens he was one of the founding members of the Municipal Public Safety Communications Consortium (MPSCC) that he continued to work part-time until mid 2022.
His dedication to service produced numerous accomplishments and awards,mostly notably,"Officer of the Year" for Palm Beach Gardens.
His love of photography has produced memories forever captured in his work and shows his dedication and love for his family.
Ernie will be remembered in a graveside service on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth.FL (NW corner of Kirk Road and 10th Ave.) with a celebration of life after the service that will be announced at the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a memorial contribution be made to Michael J. Fox.org in Ernie's memory to help fight Parkinson's.
