BANKS, Dorothy McGinn, 93, passed from this life to her eternal one on May 15, 2015 after a brief illness. Dorothy was a gentle spirit who befriended all and was loved dearly in return. Dorothy’s travels took her from her birthplace in Worcester, Massachusetts to Palm Beach, Florida where she was stationed at the Biltmore Hotel as a U.S. Coast Guard SPAR in World War II. She met and married Leonard A. Banks who preceded her in death. Throughout her life Dorothy continued to serve others as a school crossing guard, a postal clerk and a twenty year volunteer at JFK Medical Center. In each of these roles she met many people who became lifelong friends. Dorothy was a caring mother of four daughters, Dr. Judy B. Campbell (Calvin), Bonnie Banks, Mary Ellen Amason (Bill), and Nancy E. Wilkinson. She was the proud grandmother of Kristen Campbell McManus (Kevin), Major Kevin Campbell, United States Marine Corps, Justin and Matthew Marien, Erin Amason Ippolito (James), Ryan Amason (Jessica), and Brett and Bryce Wilkinson. Gramma Dorothy was the loving great-grandmother of Ryan McManus, Brayden and Makayla Ippolito, and Luke Amason. We will forever mourn her absence from our lives, but rejoice in the many wonderful years we shared with our beloved “Dot”.
