It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arthur S. Kiratsous on December 19, 2024 at the age of 94. He passed away as he would have wanted—peacefully, at home, and surrounded by his loved ones.
Arthur was born on July 27, 1930, in Kozani, Greece to Eleni and Stephanos Kiratsous. He spent his early childhood and formative years in Greece where he remained through college. Arthur immigrated to the United States to attend graduate school at the University of Massachusetts receiving his Ph.D. in Food Technology and his MBA from University of Connecticut. He lived the majority of his life in New Canaan, Connecticut where he and his wife of 62 years, Elaine, raised two sons, Stephan and Nicholas.
In his later years he resided in Palm Beach, Florida. Arthur was a gentle man, with a keen intellect, a student of history, and a discerning palate. That palate led him to a career as a highly accomplished flavor technologist, where he was widely known for his achievements and contributions to the food and flavor industry. After many successful years working with various food products and companies he retired and became a college professor teaching nutrition, passing on his knowledge to future generations, a role he thoroughly enjoyed.
Throughout his life Arthur was an extremely active member of the Greek Orthodox Church and served the organization in various roles, and was an engaged member of the AHEPA, the longest standing Hellenic nonprofit organization in the world. Most importantly Arthur was a faithful man who loved his family and his heritage.
Arthur is survived by his wife Elaine, his son Stephan Kiratsous and wife Stacie, his son Nicholas and wife Tammy, and his grandchildren Alexander, Layne, Andrew and Katie Love.
If every man could look back on his life and say they lived as Arthur lived, what a world we would inhabit. A viewing for Arthur will be held from 12:30-1pm with services beginning at 1pm on Monday, December 23rd at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 110 Southern Blvd. West Palm Beach, FL 33405, followed by a burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park located at 6411 Parker Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 110 Southern Blvd. West Palm Beach, FL 33405 or to The Greek Orthodox Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford St Stamford, CT 06905.
