December 3, 1977 – November 13, 2024
Alicia DeBay was born and raised in Brockport, New York, to Michael and Ellen Sorce. As a child she was a good student, a Girl Scout, took adult tap classes and was a member of the Brockport High School Choir, graduating in 1996. When she was 16 years old, she got her first job as a feeder at the Beikirch Nursing home. That job inspired Alicia to look at the healthcare field for a career. She attended SUNY Brockport 1996 – 2000, graduating with her BSN in Nursing. She was also a member of the women’s golf team during her years there.
In 2002, after working at Strong Memorial Hospital for one year, Alicia made the decision to sign on as a travel nurse. She left her home in Brockport, for Fort Lauderdale, contracting with Holy Cross Hospital. She eventually became a permanent staff member and stayed there until March 2012. Alicia chose Florida as her home. While married and a young mother, she achieved her Master of Business Administration (MBA), from the University of Phoenix. Alicia worked for several health systems, including Good Samaritan, Tenet Healthcare, Broward Health, and most recently at HCA Healthcare, as Administrator at Atlantis Outpatient Center. Over the past two years she also became a surveyor for Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). She was recognized as an Experienced Leader with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital and health care industry.
Besides being a medical professional, Alicia was a devoted wife and mother. She married Chip DeBay in 2007, and they became the proud parents of Charles M. DeBay, now a senior at Dreyfoos School of the Arts, in Palm Beach.
Alicia is survived by her husband, Chip DeBay; Charles (Charlie) DeBay, son; Ellen Sorce, mother; Michael Sorce (Sheryl), father; Amy Sorce-Smith (Aaron), sister; Dorothy Sorce, grandmother; and Olga Brown, godmother. She is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts, and friends.
Alicia was described by friends and family as: impressive, caring, determined, supportive, bright, smiling, kind, inspiring, genial, warrior, brave, mother, confident, passionate, giving, strong, BAB, loving, hero, stubborn, exuberant, true, genuine, soulful, courageous, angel, confident and vibrant.
