Alice Marie Bethel Burton (aka Tiney Inez) was born in Barnwell South Carolina, on December 10, 1930 to the late Jackson and Bertha Grubbs Bethel. After graduating high school, she and her family relocated to Palm Beach County Florida in 1950. She departed this life on July 31, 2019 with her family and friends by her side. She served as a certified nursing assistant for the Palm Beach County Nursing Home for 31 years. She also worked for the Cheney Brothers family, in West Palm Beach for many years. A passionate member of Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for over fifty years where Pastor Benjamin Carroll presides. Also a member of the Eastern Stars and Heroines of Jericho.
Alice married the late Charles Burton on July 14 1967. She was a loving caring mother to five children in which three preceded her in death. Diane Bethel, Ruby Bates ( Benny), Sylvia Gambrell (Randall). She leaves two cherished daughters Bertha Bonita Brown (Don) and Charline Burton-Curtis (Deon). Seven grandchildren Angela Odom (Sam), Benny Bates Jr, Latoya Bates, Allen Powell Jr., Renee Mingo (Hilton), Christopher Curtis and Caleb Curtis. Host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Special Aunt Ida Bethel Smith and special godchild Rev. Raymond C. Jackson II. Four living siblings Marilyn Sapp (Curtis, deceased), Rev. Jack E Bethel (Alma), Shirley Meeks (Willie), Patricia Bethel Jackson ( Raymond Sr.) and two deceased siblings Roy Bethel and Corine Bethel Jenkins.
Alice was known as the matriarch of the Bethel family. She kept the family together with the annual Bethel Generation Picnics. She touched so many lives and will be missed by all who knew her. May the memories remain in our hearts forever.
