September 25, 1930 – September 6, 2021
Alan Thompson Pearce, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2021, at the age of 90. He grew up in California, Tennessee and New York. He brought up his family in Short Hills, NJ and ultimately settled at the Harbour Ridge Club in Palm City, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Maureen Stein Pearce; his daughters Tracy (Jim) Rutherfurd and Pam (Dick) Williams; his grandchildren Maureen (Ben) Stapleton, Hugh (Kate) Carey; Win (Aryana) Rutherfurd, Donald (Phoebe) Carey, Jr., and Chanler Rutherfurd; and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Alan T. “Tommy” Pearce, Jr.
Alan was a graduate of Adelphi University. He had a long and successful career as an advertising executive in New York City.
He was a bright, engaging, very social and humor-filled person who was known as “Pop Pop” and “Soda Pop” to his grandchildren. He was an avid backgammon player, tennis player and golfer. He was a member of several clubs including Baltusrol, the Short Hills Club, the University Club in New York City and Harbour Ridge.
Alan recently celebrated 50 years as a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He devoted countless hours helping others successfully address their struggles with the disease of alcoholism.
