With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Muriel Haines on July 31, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Harold. Proud mother to Terry, Chris, Rick (Marilyn) and Bruce (Cathy). Adoring nan to Harrison (Wendy), Miranda (Mathew), Brenna and great-nan to Reid and Callie. Muriel will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all her family and friends.
A woman who loved her garden, gold medal winner of the 2010 Toronto Senior Games for Texas Hold’em Poker, and receiver of the 2014 Toronto Golden Volunteer Recognition Award. Muriel also paved the way to change the Canadian Legislation to award Silver Cross to non-birth mothers of son’s who were killed in the war.
Family and friends are welcome to gather at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Ave. E., West Hill, on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a funeral service beginning in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Following, a burial will be held at St. Margaret’s in the Pines Cemetery.
