John passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, at age 92, surrounded by his loving family. John will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Barbara, and children Ian, Sean and Jennifer (Peter). John studied architecture in England and immigrated to Canada in 1954. He worked for the Bank of Montreal in Quebec as Premises Manager for Eastern Canada. After moving to Toronto, his team was responsible for BMO property in Canada and the United States. During his life, John looked forward to riding his bike every day, and spending time with his family at the cottage in Magog, Quebec. In later years, he enjoyed watching sports (hockey, soccer and tennis) and old classic movies on television.
A service in John’s memory will take place at Melville Presbyterian Church (70 Old Kingston Road) on Saturday, December 9, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
John was a kind and giving person and supported many charities on a regular basis. If desired, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Scarborough Health Network Foundation.
