MOM

You’ve been gone for less than a month and I have so much to tell you, and so many things I forgot to ask. My heart broke the day you left and nothing will fix it. Even though you lived almost 95 years, I feel like I got ripped off. I need more.

So many things remind me of you:  sewing, wedding cakes, Carlingford, the Birthday song, the color mauve, meatloaf sandwiches, carrousels, Value Village, Y&R, Tostito jars (lol)…The list goes on and on. Every time I see and hear those things, and a million other things, I think of you. Your wonderful stories of the past play over in my mind randomly.

Your life as a mom and wife had some challenges, but you took it all in stride and did your best. You protected us, loved us all equally, and cheered us on daily. You were dependable, steadfast, and brave. The “crappy ending” was just another bump in the road for you. You made me laugh right to the end —I will always remember to “blank” the “blank” if I get the chance.

Mostly, I will remember you tucking me in REALLY tight at night. I'm thankful I was able to do the same. So, good night sweet momma. Give Dad a kiss from me.

The Jean l will always remember was young at heart and had a great sense of humour. I will miss our adventures together at lunch and in shops but mostly our political rants in the pool every week. Our days together were filled with lots of fun and laughter. Jean’s family was the world to her, and in many ways she was their anchor she will be deeply missed.

Jean, you are our sunshine and you will forever be in our hearts.  I will miss your laugh, I’ll miss coming home to Mums in the pool or tea with Molly Mums.  I will miss dropping by, you were always so lovely to be around.  Always smiling and always kind.  And of course, always looking fabulous. I will miss watching your family adore you.  You are loved by everyone, and we all love sharing stories about you. One of my favourites is a story from my Mum.  The two of you had gone together to get your Covid vaccinations.  She said that she had her eyes on the door while waiting for you outside.  There were a number of elderly people exiting slowly and there was a women moving in and out of the group. The woman coming towards her had quite a spring in her step. She laughed out loud, it was you.  She said it was hilarious witnessing your youthful stride.  And that was part of your magic. A lovely youthful spirit that made people smile. And funny, you always had us laughing. I’m going to miss your desserts.  I’m going to miss very late night New Year’s Eve.  I will miss hearing you call me Wob.  Your smile was always extra cute when you would say it.  I’m going to miss hearing Young and the Restless in the house.  Thank you for being the sweetest Morher-in-law and guy could have. Your magic lives in all your girls and I get to see glimpses of you everyday in Kelly.  Lots of love, sweet dreams Jean.

In memory of Grandma Jean, whom I had the pleasure of meeting at Arden’s parents' place. She was full of life and spirit. I’ll always remember how she showed up, ready to swim. Her energy was so cute. Watching her put on her goggles and dive into the pool. 
She will be remembered 🤍

My deepest condolences on the loss of such a vibrant, amazing woman. I have such fond memories of hot summer days spent in Jean’s beautiful backyard pool with Arden, playing dress up in her basement, and Sunday dinners with the whole family. She was such a beacon of joy and will always be remembered for her warm, kind hospitality and her fabulous elegance. Sending all my love❤️

My beautiful grandma Jean.  You will live on in our memories. When I think of you I’ll always remember your deep love for your family and we will always be grateful for what you’ve done for all of us. Grandma camp will always be my fondest memories of you. I love you from this life into the next ❤️

You were such a bright light in our lives! Your empathy and compassion remain unparalleled. You were the most validating person I’ve ever met because you possessed such beautiful qualities. I’m lucky to have had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time with you throughout my life and especially during my childhood. You played such an integral role in my upbringing and I’m so fortunate for that because your all-pervasive loveliness had such a positive impact on me! I will never forget the Barbie cakes that you lovingly baked for my birthday parties when I was little, or the mornings that you’d make breakfast for the girls and I with delicious poached eggs as well as toast with jam and butter. You were a truly special Grandma and we are so fortunate to have had you in our lives for so long. I love you, Grandma! Miss you.

My heart is broken and there are no words to describe how much I miss you. I pick up the phone every day to call you. You were my very best friend. Thank you for your unconditional love that was never in question, and for helping me raise the girls to be compassionate young ladies. You were always caring and involved and made an effort to make every special event, joyful, and memorable. The girls were so lucky to have your love and guidance. They remember snuggles and sleepovers with porridge and poached eggs and of course Grama Camp with the miniature Village outings, your dress up chest, perfume / potion making in the kitchen And you’re famous sandwiches and strawberry shortcake. You are always in my heart and all around me in beautiful memories.

A beautiful lady inside and out! Always so welcoming and warm. Whether sleeping over as kids at her house in the Spanish-style basement, swimming in her pool or watching her love of cooking Sunday roast dinner with her beloved husband,  she always had a genuine smile and a joy for life! Rest now after a life well lived. You will be dearly missed! ❤️🙏❤️
