You were more than a mother in-law to me, you were my second mother. 
Over the years we sat and drank tea, did crafts, went shopping and attended childrens events together. 
After Ric and I got married we lived in your basement for 16 months and sometimes you would call down and ask if I had prepared dinner and if I said no, you would say good because you had made too much. I sometimes would do the same thing. 
When it was close to the time for Margaret, your first grandchild, to be born your neighbours asked you how they would know when your grandchild was born and what sex it was. You came up with the idea of putting a ribbon on the tree out front. This tradition continued for all the grandchildren and great grandchildren. 
Family was always important to you. You helped take care of the grandchildren when the parents were sick. You attended the grandchildrens events and even went on school outings. 
Unfortunately dementia took hold the last few years but you never lost your sense of humour. 
The last few weeks were really hard to watch you go down hill but you are now in a better place with Dad, your sisters, your brother and your parents. 
I will always miss you Mum and Dad.

Your mother was one of the most practical persons I ever met.  

She was a straight shooter.

I’m proud to have been told off and put in my place, by her, more than once.

I have a couple of memories of conversations we had. 

I have fond memories of things she did, for me, that most would consider insignificant, but I remember, fondly, because it was, her, Grace, being a mother and being genuine.

What can you say about the most amazing Grandma ever!?! Lots!! 
Amazing, all knowing (nosy neighbours anonymous lol)  magical, loving, fun and funny, imaginative, kind.... the list goes on and on and on. 
I got to live with Grandma for just over 2 years before she moved into the retirement home. The best 2 years of my life!! 
The first day I was there I knew that there were many adventures to be had and a lot mischief to get into. 
I will never forget the long discussions while sitting in the living room in Grandma and Grandpa’s recliners. The hundreds of cups of tea. Watching tv in the evening in the back room. Trips to Dairy Queen for hot dogs and ice cream cakes. The grocery shopping antics. Halloween trick or treating. Christmas gift shaking. Walks to Hadfield’s for scratch cards. 
Wish you were still with us so more memories could be made but I know you are in heaven with Grandpa loving us from above.

Aunt Grace was a very special lady. She almost always had a smile. She and mom were such good friends as well as being sisters.  My mom and dad, and Uncle Jack and Aunt Grace would play cards every weekend. This was where I learned all the newest swear words. Aunt Grace was a constant in my life. She will be greatly missed. 

Well,  my amazing Grace was that amazing.  I was with Grace for only 2 years but they where fun years.  She taught me about sex and drugs in our many talks. Grace loved to sit and watch the children in the day care,  One day when we where outside she was blowing bubbles and the children where running all over.  I will miss our tea and cookies weekly.  Grace will be missed by me and everyone who knew her.  Bye to my Amazing Grace

It was just a few years back that we hosted a barbeque wherein Gary, Margaret, Cary, Genvieve and Stevie attend along with mom. Mom and Gary sat under our huge, beautiful tree and talked at length - catching up. We had to serve them for they just talked and talked. With tears in my eyes, upon reflection, I believe they knew it would be the last time they would see each other.
Gary was my contemporary, along with Gordon, Barb, Eric and Ronny. We spent a lot of time at 123 Grass Avenue with the Pullens. They were good times with mom and grandpa.

Mom was aptly named - Grace - her name meant courteous goodwill.
She is where she wants to be now - with her parents, dad and God. Heaven is rejoicing to have one of their own home.
She was the best mother-in-law anyone could ever ask for and she brought much needed stability and common sense to life.
She loved her family - even those who could not always be with us - Gordon, Ronny, Gary and his family.
She had the amazing gift of being able to potty train some children in only one evening.
She was kind, generous, compassionate and authoritarian in equal measure.
I am grateful for our times of prayer together and your words of thanks.
Heaven is rejoicing at your arrival. The world will not be the same without you.

Mom and Aunt Grace enjoyed each other immensely.  They had so much fun together.  Trampoline (absolutely hilarious to watch), rolling down grass or snow covered hills.  The Fab Four played cards every Saturday, each house about.  There was more laughing, yelling and lots of swearing, than I’ve heard in a very long time.  All of us are going to miss you.  Love you Aunt Grace.❤️

Grandma Honsberger was the best example of a strong female role model I could ever ask for. She was such a presence in my life growing up I know I wouldn't be half the person I am today if not for her influence and guidance. She had a way of boiling down complex life lessons into the simplest of terms so even a young child could understand but succinct and powerful enough they could be carried with me well into adulthood. "If you make a dollar save a dime!" Was a particular favourite.

She somehow struck the perfect balance between kind, caring, loving grandmother and strict disciplinarian. Some families threaten you with your father or grandfather; they threatened us with Grandma! She made it so we were both afraid to cross her and afraid to disappoint her at the same time. And every time we behaved, did good for someone or did well at something she was always there with goodies. We all remember the drawer at the entrance to her kitchen and the goody bags she'd fill from it on our way out the door.

Not many people know this but she was magic. Or maybe she could fly. We may never know. But when she had any number of us grandchildren at her house she'd bring us to the park to tire us out including a run up a very large tree filled hill. We'd all take off, scatter, race one another to the top and every time there she was, sitting on a bench reading a book waiting for us. We never knew how she did it but she always beat us.

She taught us fairness. Everyone was treated the same; if one person got a gift everyone got a gift. She picked no favourites, she never let any of us feel any less loved or appreciated than any other.

Grandma was the unquestioned matriarch of the Honsberger family. She brought us all together and against all odds, all moves and changes she did everything she could to keep us together. Wherever she is I know right now she's with Grandpa smiling down as she realizes her last act was to reunite all her grandchildren.

I'll miss you, RIP.

I only had the pleasure of meeting her once, but I remember her fondly, she was a very kind, loving, compassionate woman who held a lot of love for her family.

This woman was the single most constant in my life. 
When I was younger and needed a place to live, she took me in and gave me shelter, food and a safe place to call home. We spent endless hours talking at her kitchen table, drinking tea and playing cards. When I got married, she gave me the benefit of 60 years + experience as a wife and mother. When I was learning to cook, I could call her and ask her advice at any time. When I was feeling down, she would remind me who I was. When I became a mother, she encouraged me and taught me what I needed to know. And she never failed to be there for me.

She was an Air Force wife who lived through a life of moving all over this country while her husband served. 
She was generous, always donating her time to charities and people in need. She was thrifty, and always knew how to save a penny. She was friendly and warm, everyone was welcome at her table and in her home. She was always honest, but had a soft and loving tone that accompanied it. She was playful and fierce, she loved life and loved adventure, and she was never afraid of a curse word or a trampoline (even at 80 years old). 
She would always say she never understood why her friends were so "old" (she was older than all of them) as she drove them around in her minivan while they carried their canes and walkers along with them. And she never stopped. She was always on the go, until a stroke stopped her short...

This woman raised me. This woman taught me what it meant to be a mother, a wife and a woman. This woman was my ultimate role model. 

I was so sad that I didn't live closer, and that I couldn't spend more time with her....but I loved the times we did spend together...even when she stopped remembering who I was. She never stopped being important to me. I will always remember her influence and her guidance and her love...

Good-bye Grandma...you were the best part of me, and I hope I can be close to half the woman you were....I'll love you forever.

This morning (November 21) my grandma train passed away at the young age of 98.   She will be greatly missed and remembered by the entire family, friends and anyone who she touched.    Her sense of humour.  Her egg salad sandwiches (which I’m still trying to master) were the best.    You taught me to cook some other awesome dishes.   She loved her cards (which i played many many times).

Grandma you’re now with grandpa and all the rest of the family who have gone before you.     Rest in piece grandma.   Until we meet again.  Love you and miss you
