Sheryl Lynn Walkup

Sheryl Lynn Baker Walkup was born in Rock Island, Illinois on October 26, 1947 to James Bruce Walkup and Ida Lee Gertrude Elizabeth Walkup. Sheryl passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022, with her family at her bedside. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. January 14, 2023 at the MLK Interpretive Center, 501 N. Brady St., Davenport, IA 52803.

Sheryl graduated from Rock Island High School and attended Parsons College, in Fairfield, Iowa. She was employed at Alcoa in Bettendorf, Iowa, the Rock Island Arsenal and retired as a Direct Support Staff at New Choices in Bettendorf, Iowa. Sheryl was an avid movie watcher, immaculate housekeeper, awesome cook and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Sheryl will be remembered and deeply missed by children, Lynsi Baker and Jason Baker both of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Sheila Renee Walkup Jones (Lonnie); grandchildren, James Shorter, Anthony Ibarra, Jada Baker, Eriana Brown, Kobe Baker, Alexis Brown, Carmelo Baker, Kenadi Brown, Fallon Baker, Aaron Brown, and Emmanuel Baker; great granddaughter, Sophia Ibarra; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her paternal parents; lifelong partner, Eugene Baker; sister, Sheila McKinley; and daughter, Erin Baker.
