On the morning of February 3, 2023, Dr. Michael Anderson of Des Moines, Iowa passed at the age of 62. Visitation and service for Michael will take place on Sunday, February 12 from 2-4 pm at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines, with the service beginning at 3 pm.
Michael was born September 2, 1961 in Wisconsin to Mary and Richard Anderson. Michael grew up around and caring for animals, beginning his life’s work as a Trail Guide and Horse Trainer at Baker’s Stable. He graduated from Valley High School in 1979 and studied Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, earning his DVM in 1986.
Michael spent the next 37 years as a Veterinarian, devoting his life to providing accessible care for furry family members. He opened his own practice, Anderson Animal Hospital, in 2003. While not working, Michael was known to enjoy playing pool, frisbee golf, bowling, music, movies, and spending time with loved ones.
Michael is survived by his parents, Mary and Richard Anderson; brothers, David, Jerry, and Randy; daughter, Theresa Anderson; son, Jacob Anderson; and many loved family members, colleagues, clients, and friends.
