Katherine Louise Morrison

Katherine Louise Morrison (Lorenz), 76, passed away gracefully on December 29, 2021 in her hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. A celebration of life is planned at a later date to include family and friends.

Kathy was born in Des Moines to Frederick and Jean Lorenz on January 21, 1945. She went to Des Moines public schools and graduated from North High in 1962, then attended art classes at the University of Iowa. She had a professional career as an administrative tax assistant with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell, and retired from Roth and Company CPA firm. She was an artist at heart with many talents who excelled in batik and calligraphy, receiving awards and accolades for those endeavors. Kathy married the love of her life, Roger Morrison, in 1977 and enjoyed many trips and adventures with him to explore the country while seeing family and friends, especially their grandson Vance. Kathy passionately loved music, nature, flowers and sharing laughter with loved ones. As a two-time cancer survivor, Kathy volunteered her time and love with the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Iowa, and Unity Church.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Roger Morrison; two sons, Ross Allen of Haverhill and Jay (Alyssa Lyon) Allen of Lake Balboa, California; brother, Fritz (Carol) Lorenz of Kauai, Hawaii; grandchildren, Vance Allen, Taylor Mosher and Noah Frederiksen; and many nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.
