Julia Johnson Page, 63, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Julia was born September 26, 1950 in Middletown, OH. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1969 and attended Drake University where she met her husband, Gerry. Julia retired as a Systems Analyst in IT for Principal Financial Group in April 2010 after 39 years. After retirement, she started a second career as a travel agent and worked for Blue Seas Travel and Sail Aweigh Travel. Julia was a volunteer at the Eddie Davis Community Center and also helped in the Health Clinic.
Julia loved to travel the world. Watching the ocean and whales was also a joy of hers. She also served as the travel agent for the biannual Caribbean Thanksgiving vacation. Her favorite sport was shopping and shoes were her greatest catch. There was never a coupon or sale that was safe from her prowl.
Julia is survived by her husband, Gerald Page of Clive; daughter, Annissa (Ronnie) Roland of Savannah, GA; son, Warren (Savannah) Page of Perry; two brothers, Henry (Cheryl) Cofield of Middletown, OH and Robert Cofield of Lebanon, OH; sister, Ossie Johnson of Groveport, OH; grandchildren, Dominique Roland, Nigel Roland, Warren Page II, Julia Roland, Wesley Page, Madison Dittmer, Taryne Page, and Maliegha Page; mother-in-law, Barbara Long of West Des Moines and a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Warren Johnson and mother, Mandy Ossie (Roberson) Johnson of Franklin, OH.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Eddie Davis Community Center, 1312 Maple Street, West Des Moines, IA 50265.
