John M. Peterson, 93, passed away January 21, 2013 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk. Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Avenue, in West Des Moines with a private burial at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date.
John was born February 26, 1919 in Scranton. He served in the U.S. Marines, 5th Tank Battalion, during WWII. John met his bride of 66 years, Wilda Pauline, during this time and they were married on June 24, 1946. John was a welder at the Ford Implement Plant in Des Moines and retired after 27 years. In retirement, John loved to spend time with his family and work outside.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; daughter, Loretta (Terry) Crane; son, Dennis (Karen); granddaughter, Amy Crane (Shawn Nicholson); and three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Kallin, and Campbell.
