Jean Tierney Foster died Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Jean was born November 2, 1934 to William and Marie (Barron) Tierney. She grew up in Melrose along with three brothers on the family farm. Jean graduated from Melrose High School and went on to work for the West Des Moines school district at Valley High School as an office administrator until her retirement. She loved her home in West Des Moines and her community of friends at the senior center. Jean very much enjoyed traveling with her family to South Carolina, Minnesota, and Colorado.
Jean is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Foster of West Des Moines; three daughters, Claudette (Don) Brandt of Washburn, Iowa, Joan (Howell) Clyborne of Campobello, South Carolina, and Paula Foster of Estes Park, Colorado; and one granddaughter, Ann Marie of Campobello, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Don, Robert, and Vince Tierney.
