Janet “Jan” (Stone) Scheuermann, 81, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2024 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at McLaren’s. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Jan was born June 16, 1942 to Carroll and Vera Stone. She grew up in Bayard, IA where she attended elementary and high school. In June of 1961 she married her high school sweetheart, Eugene “Gene” Scheuermann and made their home in West Des Moines. Jan owned and operated Gold Glow Tanning Salon for 20 years. She loved her business but most of all she enjoyed all the customers.
Jan is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gene; daughter, Justine (Greg) Tellis; grandchildren, Cory (Abby) Scheuermann and Wesley and Cassidy Tellis; three sisters, Kay (Dick) Brannan, Judy Goodwin, and Pat Rienke; three brothers, Dick, Jack (Jeannie), and Donnie (Shirley) Stone. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Stephanie Scheuermann; two brothers, Jerry and Roger Stone; and sister, Marilyn Hunter.
