James “Jim” Doyle, 74, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
Jim was born in Algona, Iowa to Raymond and Veda (Rahe) Doyle. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. Jim owned James M. Doyle Custom Grading in Bancroft, Iowa for 26 years before moving to West Des Moines in 1993. He became a member of Local Union 234 working for Corell Contractor’s, Inc. as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement.
Jim loved spending time with his family and going for drives. He will be remembered for his kind heart, hard work, and great sense of humor.
He is survived by his five children, Bryan (Molly) Doyle of Mankato, Minnesota, Julie (Joshua) Kraling of Huxley, Iowa, Keith (Melanie) Doyle of Phoenix, Arizona, William (Margaret) Doyle of Ankeny, Iowa and Angela (Steve) Kristiansen of Fort Collins, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Erin, Emily, Avery, Mackenzie, Andrew, McKayla, Izabel, Hannah, Macey, and Kelten; nine grandchildren of his special companion, Judy Mendenhall, who recently passed away; two brothers, Robert of Des Moines and Charles (Janice) of Bancroft, Iowa; and a sister, Kathryn (Bill) Frederick of Indiana. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin James Doyle; and siblings, William, Raymond (Jack), Thomas, Elizabeth, Arthur, and Marilyn.
