Glen Baker, 87, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church, 3700 Cottage Grove, in Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines.
Glen was born June 16, 1930, in Mankato, MN to Harold and Leona (Buzick) Baker. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Glen worked in the food service industry, retiring from Baker’s Cafeteria. He also worked/retired from Wesley Acres and the Des Moines Public Schools. Glen was an avid fan of the Drake Bulldogs, Vikings, Twins, and the IA Cubs.
Glen is survived by his wife LaDonna; son, Randy; daughter, Deanna (Raymond) Ramirez; granddaughters, Danie (Chance) Patrick and Raelynn Ramirez; great grandchildren, Rilee, Cooper and Chase; sister, Shirley (Burdette); brother, Wayne (Diane); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; two sisters; and an infant daughter.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church in Glen’s name.
