Georgia Ripley, 90, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Carlisle Care Center. Private graveside services will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Georgia was born October 16, 1922 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Samuel and Berenese (Yost) Shields. She worked as a secretary for the State of Iowa Parks Department. Georgia enjoyed traveling, going to plays at the civic center, going out to eat and spending time with her grandchildren.
Georgia is survived by her three children, Georgia (Larry) Speed, Charles Ripley, Jr. and Jane Ripley, all of West Des Moines; four grandchildren, Heather (Kipp) Hagaman, Katie (Tyler) De Maris, Nick Ripley and Daniel Ripley; three great-grandchildren, Zekie and Izzy Hagaman, and Harper De Maris; and her sister, Charlene Neidig. She was preceded in death by her son, Jon K. Ripley and sister, Beryl.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel.
