Debra Suzanne Williams, age 68, of Winterset, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Services will be held at the Church of Christ in Earlham, Iowa. A visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 5th, with a service the next day at 11 a.m. The burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Debra Suzanne (Helmick) Williams, the daughter of Robert of Marilyn Helmick, was born on June 30, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa. The family lived in Des Moines and Debra graduated from Southeast Polk in 1973. Soon after graduating, on July 6, 1973, Debra met her lifelong sweetheart, David Williams. They are the parents of Darla, Dawn, Dana, and Drew.
She stayed home to care for and raise their children while volunteering at their school, Menlo Elementary, for over 30 years. She has always enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, gardening, and bird watching. In her free time, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Debra always had such a fun personality, from her crazy hats to her wacky socks. She brightened up every room she entered, making friends everywhere she went. Deb was very actively involved in church, she previously volunteered at the Central Iowa Bible Camp, she was involved in women's bible study, preparing food on Wednesday for the church community, and she attended church almost every Sunday morning.
Debra passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, September 26, 2023, in her home. She is preceded in death by her mom Marilyn Helmick, uncle Gerald Brady, brother Terry Helmick along with other family and friends.
Debra is survived by her father Robert, and husband David of 50 years. Siblings; Steven, Mark, and Paula. Children; Darla (Greg) Davison, Dawn (Jared) Baird, Dana (Eric) Thompson, and Drew (Devin) Williams. Grandchildren; Austin (Bayley) Baird, David (Anah) Cosner, Derek (Kaley) Cosner, Natalie (Andrey) Panasyuk, Natalie Cosner, Kennedy Gall, Reagan Gall, and Isaac Baird. Great-grandchildren; Lexe Baird, Axel Baird, and Daniel Panasyuk along with many other relatives and friends.
