Darrell Reams

Darrell Eugene Reams, 78, died on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Taylor House of Hospice in Des Moines, IA. A celebration of his life will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Darrell was born on May 30, 1942 in West Des Moines to Melvin and Mildred (Shutt) Reams. He graduated from Valley High School in 1960. He was an army veteran. Later, he graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO in 1972 with a bachelor’s of science in education.

Darrell had a long career in the school districts. He also was head of maintenance in Charles City schools and Director of Operations in Ottumwa. While in West Des Moines, he enjoyed coaching his daughters in softball. After retirement, while traveling in his RV with Gloria, he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing country music around the campfire with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dennis and Marvin Reams.

Surviving Darrell is his wife of 30 years, Gloria; his daughters, Hollee (Brian) Crees and Kristin Reams; grandsons, Benjamin Crees, Samuel Crees, and Tanner Redenius; granddaughter, Nicole Bagby; great-grandson, Asher Bagby; and brother, Curtis (Diane) Reams.
