Chris was a happy guy who loved life. He participated in the Special Olympics when younger and graduated from Hoover High School. While going to school, Chris started working for Urbandale Hy-Vee, where he worked for 27 years. COVID came along and Chris “retired”. He went to Vodec three days a week, but his favorite day was Wednesday when his dad brought him B-Bops – fish sandwich, no lettuce, cut in two, fries and diet Pepsi – no changes.
Chris lived in Urbandale with his two best buddies, Mike and Travis. They were the brothers Chris never had.
He was a “BIG” Hawkeye fan. When the Hawkeyes were on TV, you would find Chris right there cheering or swearing depending on how the game was going. He liked all kinds of music and loved scary movies. His love for scary movies started at a young age when he watched Poltergeist. He wore out two tapes from watching it.
Chris is survived by his mother, Linda; father, Dennis (Mary Kay); Aunt Peg (Dave) Forret; Aunt Cathy Johnson; Aunt Deb Rees; Uncle Mark Rees; cousins, Shane (Danica) Forret, Scott Johnson, Rob Johnson and Lisa Johnson. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Vern and Shirley Hill and Merle and Elsie Rees and Uncle Terry Johnson.
A very special thank you to Chris’s bosses at Hy-Vee, P.J. and Kevin, for the kindness and guidance he received throughout the years of his employment.
A private family burial will be scheduled for a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed in Chris’s name to Vodec, 4406 114th St., Urbandale, IA 50322 or Link Associates, 1452 29th St., West Des Moines, IA 50266.
