Carmen Elaine Gustafson, 57, of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 11 AM – 2 PM at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel, with a burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Carmen was born on November 22, 1966 to Robert and Rita (Peterson) Gustafson in New York. During her younger years, Carmen lived in many states with her family before finally settling in West Des Moines in 1980. While in high school, Carmen was active in 4-H and Band, where she played the trumpet. Afterwards, she earned her Associate’s Degree from DMACC.
During her adulthood, she enjoyed traveling with her mother and family. Together, they had many adventures, including going on cruises and traveling to Sweden. Carmen enjoyed her cats, and she enjoyed spending time with them over the years.
Carmen is survived by her mother, Rita, and her siblings, Joann Thomas and Brian Gustafson.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert; her younger brother, Todd, and brother-in-law, Michael Thomas.
