Brian Robert Fridley, son of Robert and Myrna Fridley was born June 21, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa. He passed away on May 29, 2021 with his children by his side in Rancho Mirage, California after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Brian worked for the past 30 years for Fridley Theatres. Most of that time was spent working side by side with his father. The rest of that time he was working to carry on his father's legacy.
While Brian was a successful businessman, he was an even better father. He said his greatest achievement was his children and he made sure they knew it.
Brian was always a man that knew what he liked, and those that knew him were well aware of his dry sense of humor and inability to get out of bed before 11 am. Unless it was for a movie screening or a tee time. He was out on the golf course with friends and family any chance he could get. His happiest memories were made by taking family trips to Palm Springs, going to Yankees games, playing with his grandchildren and passing on his love of movies and good music to his children.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lloyd Fridley and his daughter Laurie. He is survived by his children; Richard, Allison (Nick) Goble, Sarah (Jose) Rodriguez and David Schwerzler; five grandsons Jacob, Reed, Brayden, Mason and Mateo; mother, Myrna Fridley; sisters, Lisa Dotson and Erin (Don) Abbott; brothers, Jon Fridley and Grant Thomas and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, June 11 at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Thursday, June 10 at McLaren's. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at Rick's Cafe Americain inside The Palms Theatre in Waukee from 3:30-5:30 pm.
