With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved daughter, Aundrea Osborne Cox, age 23, who left this world on November 7, 2024. Andie, as she was fondly known, was a radiant young woman with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. She was a devoted daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend, and her legacy of compassion, kindness, and selfless love will be cherished by all who knew her.
Born on November 22, 2000, in Des Moines, Andie had a bright and vibrant spirit. She excelled during her school years, participating in music, sports, speech competitions, and art. A proud 2019 graduate of Van Meter School, where she served as Salutatorian, she went on to earn her Associate’s Degree from DMACC and was pursuing her studies online at the University of Northern Iowa, with dreams of a future in Animal Health and Behavior.
Andie was an active member of the Jefferson Lee Jades 4-H group, where she channeled her love for learning and creativity into fair projects in photography, sewing, crafts, and caring for her beloved animals—especially her dogs, Digger, Shakira, and Spirit, and her horse, Kittie. She dedicated countless hours to training and riding and proudly showed them at the Madison County Fair, the Iowa State Fair, and the Prairie Rose Arena.
Aundrea’s love for animals extended into dedicated volunteer work with Puppy Jake, where for five years she helped train two dogs, Digger and Spirit. Spirit proudly serves a veteran as a service dog today, and Digger, now a therapy dog, brings comfort and joy to students and staff at Van Meter School. Andie was passionate about sharing her knowledge and often visited school classes to teach students about Puppy Jake dogs, inspiring compassion and respect for all animals.
In addition to her volunteer work, Andie channeled her love for animals into her work at Handsome Hounds Boarding and Grooming, where she cared for pets with the same tenderness she showed her own. She also served many personal clients outside regular business hours, leaving an indelible mark on every animal she nurtured with her gentle hands and warm heart.
She is preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Perry Osborne, and her grandmother, Judy Cox. Aundrea is survived by her devoted parents, Tim and Danette, and her loving older brother, Austin, who will forever hold her memory close. Aundrea’s family and friends remember her as a kind and giving soul, who brightened their lives with her quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and boundless love.
A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at New Hope Church in Adel with visitation from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Aundrea’s memory to Forever Home Dog Rescue https://foreverhomedogs.org/, Rhythms of Grace www.RhythmsOfGraceEquine.org, or Puppy Jake Service Dogs for Veterans https://puppyjakefoundation.org/ to honor her passion for helping animals and others in need.
Aundrea, you were a light in this world, and your warmth and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
