Tuesday morning, September 9, 2014 surrounded by loving family members.
The third of eight children, Frank was born in Wellton, AZ to Antonio and Genoveva Guerrero as they moved to California, ultimately settling in Pasadena. Frank graduated from John Muir Technical High School, Class of ’37 and remained in Pasadena until June 1943, when he entered the 135th Army Air Force. Frank’s military service as an aircraft sheet metal worker not only contributed to the war effort but became his lifetime career until his retirement in 1982.
Following military service, Frank met his wife Pilar Lopez, of El Paso, TX, and married on September 2, 1950. In 1955 they bought their home in La Puente, where they raised their three daughters. A devoted Catholic, his deep faith in God quietly guided him throughout his life as a hard-working and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His warm and personable nature endeared him to his large extended family and to his many friends.
During retirement he had the joy of attending each of his seven grandchildren’s high school graduations, numerous college graduations, and even met two of his three great-granddaughters. He enjoyed collecting classic car models and watching Dodgers and Lakers games surrounded by his family members.
Frank is survived by his devoted daughters Dolores (Greg) of Covina, Sylvia (Jorge) of La Puente and Frances (Gene) of Santa Cruz; his grandchildren, Denis, Francisco, Armando, Justin, Avelina, Mario and Martin; his great-granddaughters, Abigail, Lily, Brooke and his brothers Louie and Daniel (Beto).
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Genoveva, his loving wife Pilar (1979) and his brothers and sisters, Joe, Mary, Tony, Carmen, and Jenny (who died at a very young age). A memorial mass will be celebrated for Frank on Tues. Sept. 16 at 10 am at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in La Puente with internment at Queen of Heaven in Rowland Heights
