Josefina was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Josefina will be remembered as a very exceptional person with a beautiful soul that had a strong faith and was a devoted catholic. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsa and participated in many church and community organizations such as Elsa Disciples Mission, The Bereavement Team and VFW Sgt. Benito Alaniz Axillary.
Josefina enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies such as gambling, planting in her garden, playing loteria, crocheting and baking. She also enjoyed dancing and listening to music. However, her favorite pursuits were spending time with her beloved family near and afar. She enjoyed to travel and it was known that every year she would be traveling to Mexico and Dallas.
Simply stated, Josefina was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring, humble and a generous person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Josefina will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories.
Josefina is survived by daughter Norma Linda Ybarra (Fabian); son Guadalupe Alaniz Jr.; and daughter Melinda Rodriguez (Lupe); mother Maria Concepcion Tobias Garcia; sister Damacia Pineda, sister Rosa Maria (Juan Serrano), sister Maria Socorro (Esekiel Albarado), sister Maria Estela (Miguel Vasquez), sister Alma Delia (Luis Mendoza), brother Fernando (Elsie Pineda), brother Raymundo Pineda, brother Julio Cesar Manzanares, sister-in-law Idalia Rodriguez (Augustine) and sister-in-law Yolanda Rodriguez (Jose); grandson Fabian Ybarra Jr, granddaughter Krysta Leann Ybarra, grandson Jeremiah Ybarra, granddaughter Melanie Rodriguez, grandson Jacob Rodriguez, granddaughter Destiny Rodriguez, and her nieces whom she raised as grandchildren, Krystine, Brittany and Layla. Mrs. Alaniz leaves numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends left to cherish her memory.
Josefina was preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe Alaniz Sr; father Anastacio Pineda and daughter, Irma Linda Alaniz.
A visitation for Josefina will be held Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Highland, Weslaco with her rosary being recited at 7:00 PM. A chapel service will occur Friday, March 5, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Highland in Weslaco with her interment scheduled to follow at 1:00 PM at Highland Memorial Gardens, Weslaco.
Due to the pandemic everyone is required to wear a face mask or facial covering and social distancing is enforced. Please practice air hugs and loving hand waves with the family during the visitation and funeral service.
