Leonarda Herrera

She was a devoted mother and loving grandmother who loved to garden. Her nurturing spirit yielded more than just beautiful roses, it also garnered the affection of all who knew her. She loved a good joke, a good song, and would never turn down a bag of potato chips.

Her three daughters - Amparo, Cecilia, and Cristina - were the loves of her life. And her love extended to her grandchildren - Rand al’Thor Lindsey and Luz Valentina Sanchez.

Leo adored her parents, Agapita Landeros and Lorenzo Rojas, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her siblings - Mercedes Arredondo Landeros, Marcelino “Chele” Rojas, Erasmo Rojas, Bernabe Arredondo Landeros, Arnulfo Rojas, and Ceberiana Rojas.

Leo was born in Monte Alto, Texas and resided in Weslaco, Texas with her daughters, her grandchildren, and her sons-in-law - Ricardo Sanchez and Ken Hughes.

Having the honor of serving as pallbearers are Ernesto De Leon (godson), Guillermo Vasquez (son-in-law), Jaime Gonzalez (family friend), Jose Antonio Herrera Jr. (nephew), Ken Hughes (son-in-law), Manny Ortiz (family friend) Rand Lindsey (grandson), Ricardo Sanchez (son-in-law).

A visitation for Leonarda will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Eulogy at 6:30 PM and a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland, 6705 N. FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78599. A funeral mass will occur Friday, August 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 600 S. Oklahoma Ave, Weslaco, TX followed by the interment at Highland Memorial Park, Weslaco, TX 78599.
