Weslaco-Emiliano Gomez, 50, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2021. Emiliano was born on April 23, 1971 to Dolores P. Gomez & Ricardo Gomez. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Eufemia Pena and paternal grandfather, Rufino Gomez along with several uncles on both sides of the family.
He is survived by his pride & joy, his son, Noah Emiliano Gomez of Weslaco; his beautiful daughter, Lisa Marie Gomez of North Carolina; his sister Cynthia Ann Gomez of Weslaco; his twin sister Adelita (Luciano) Ozuna of Edinburg; his paternal grandmother, Juanita (Rufino†) Gomez; his nephews Luciano “Luke” Ozuna IV, Joshua Anthony Ozuna, & Justin Archer Ozuna; his lovely niece Aubrey Lynn Ozuna; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Emiliano was born in Weslaco, along with his twin sister, Adelita. Growing up, they pretended to be the twin superhero duo from The All-New Super Friends Hour, bumping fists and declaring Wonder Twin Powers, Activate! They shared a very special bond that only grew stronger as they got older. As a child, Emiliano participated in little league baseball, football and karate. As a pre-teen, he was a Boy Scout and enjoyed his time at Camp Perry with some of his best buddies. Emiliano attended all his school years at Weslaco ISD and was part of the original Weslaco High School Class of 1989.
Emiliano was always there to help his mom with chores that needed to be done, but mostly with caring for his older sister Cindy. Emiliano loved his Mama, she was always there for him. Dolores’ love for her son was never-ending, unconditionally loving him through the good times and the bad. She doted on Emiliano, and he was grateful and fortunate to have a mom like her. We find comfort knowing that Emiliano had that beautiful love till the very end.
Emiliano loved a good time and was always the life of the party. He enjoyed rock concerts, fishing in canals and cruising to the island in his beloved Trans Am. Eventually life took precedence. With adulthood and fatherhood fast approaching, he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1990 to 1994 to honorably serve our nation. He was stationed at Whidbey Island in Washington. Little did he know his adventures were just starting. With his little family by his side, he ventured into the sea aboard the USS Nimitz, leaving behind his beautiful baby girl Lisa Marie. He was a structural aviation mechanic during Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and Persian Gulf War in 1993. His tour took him around the horn of Africa, to the Philippines, Dubai, Hawaii and countless ports, bringing back a treasure chest of memories. He was awarded the National Defense Service Metal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Campaign Star, Good Conduct Award & Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
The years that followed he worked at Do-Rite Car Wash as the Manager before landing his dream job at McCreery Aviation in McAllen. Working on airplanes was his passion, and he did it well having learned his trait during his time in the Navy and by attending Hallmark University-College of Aeronautics in San Antonio. He also worked at Wilson Aviation in Weslaco.
Eventually time passed and a new chapter began. Fatherhood came calling again, and God blessed Emiliano with a son. Noah came into his life when he most needed him. A divine plan indeed. Emiliano loved his son with all his being. Noah was his World. Seeing his son grow was by far his greatest treasure. He loved spending all his spare time with his precious son Noah. He was the father that always showed up. It didn’t matter how big or small the moment was, he was always there for Noah. He assisted in coaching all of the athletic teams that Noah was a part of. Emiliano was also a father-figure to Noah’s siblings Grace Kelly Gomez, Owen Riley Ramos & Scarlette Sky Ramos along with Noah’s cousin, Alfonso Daniel Gonzalez. He loved them all so much and they loved him.
Emiliano loved life and was full of life. He loved his family and his friends unconditionally. He was a great listener and was always there with words of comfort. His charisma and charm were like no other. His smile was like a sea of stars illuminating all. He was a prankster at heart, always bringing laughter to those whom he loved. He lived his life by his rules, like if that day was his last. Always the first to offer a helping hand, no task was too small. He was a devoted childhood friend to his crew. Emiliano was a jack of all trades, able to fix issues with plumbing, carpentry, electrical & auto mechanics. He enjoyed barbequing, landscaping, fishing, playing billiards, spades, poker, dominos, and cooking. He was a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan.
Serving as his Pallbearers are some of his closest lifelong friends: Armando Rodriguez, Michael Burnias, Manuel Rivera, Ernesto Garza, Mark Burnias and his cousin, Faustino Pena and Omar Garcia.
