On Friday, February 22, 2013, Robert “Bobby” Allen Hebert, age 83, peacefully passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born on September 7, 1929 in Welsh, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcide and Ivy Hebert and his sister Leora Boudreaux and by his eldest son, John Allen Hebert.
Bobby attended St. Stanislaus School in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and was a graduate of Landry High School (now known as St. Louis High School). After graduating high school he married his best friend Jennie Rose Benoit on January 12, 1950. Bobby’s advice to his family was always to “Live Life to its Fullest” and this is certainly a motto he lived by.
Bobby was an outstanding farmer, mentor, husband, father, grandfather and civic leader during his life. Bobby began farming in 1950 and continued until he was unable to do so because of his illness. He accomplished so much in the many years he was here.
He served on the American Rice Growers and Jeff Davis Parish Boards and most recently was named the Jeff Davis Parish Business Alliance Farmer of the Year for 2012. Bobby was also a member of Our Lady Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh.
He loved farming with his boys, hunting and camping. Many winters were spent at the deer camp with his family and friends.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jennie Rose, his children, “Billy” Hebert and wife, Beth, Michael Hebert and wife, Beth, Susan Robertson and husband, Jack, Phil Hebert and wife, Vickie, Anne Sarver and husband, Steve, David Hebert and wife, Dana, Jane Johnson, and husband, Jim, Chris Hebert and wife, Monica, Lynda Hebert and daughter-in-law, Vicki and husband Rick Arceneaux; grandchildren include, Kelly Lanthier, Christopher Arceneaux, Rachael Touchet, Natalie Hebert, Julie Ortego, Jennie Hebert, Justin Hebert, John Robertson, Caroline Robertson, Brian Hebert, Kyle Hebert, Garret Hebert Kali Hebert, Sarah Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Jill Johnson, Suzanne Johnson, Jace Hebert and Spencer Hebert. He also enjoyed spending time with his 9 great grandchildren, Alec, Halie, Andrew, Kaleb, Luke, Ella, Max, Kadence and Kolton.
Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh on Sunday, February 24, from 4pm-8pm with a rosary led by Lucille Boudreaux at 6pm. Visitation will continue Monday, February 25, from 8am until the time of service. The family will celebrate his life with a funeral mass held at 10:30 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and burial to follow at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Steve Sarver, Kyle Hebert, Justin Hebert, Brian Hebert, John Robertson, Christopher Arceneaux, Garret Hebert, Charlie Johnson, Spencer Hebert and Jace Hebert.
